Make It Rain

This is too cute! I have seen this design elsewhere but I liked to add my own little twist and thought you would all enjoy trying to create your own. I will add the price list and where I got everything for it. You can definitely make these for Christmas presents as they are super cute and can be really versatile. You can change colour, silhouette, the entire idea. It is completely up to you how you place everything or whether you change the picture.

Equipment Needed

  • 1 cheap craft hot glue gun (I have brought a $5.00 on from the cheap asian store, do not use a new expensive one as they do get pretty dirty really fast)
  • A box of crayons ($3.90 approx for a large box from cheap asian stores)
  • Canvas board or 3D canvas ( $2.00 for 3 from cheap asian store or the 3D ones are $2.00 each. You can try to strike a bargain as craft shops are always having sales)
  • Permanent Black Marker ($2.00 from cheap asian store)
  • Printed silhouette or a really good drawing hand (What?! 10 cents for the printing)
  • Glitter Paint ($2.00 from cheap asian store)
Method

Step One: Plan out exactly how you want your canvas to look.
Step Two: Draw in pencil an outline of your silhouette and then go over with black permanent marker.
Step Three: Select 3 - 4 coloured crayons. For the rain effect I chose, navy, sky blue, white and gray.
Step Four: Cover your silhouette with a card, for example if you have an umbrella in your silhouette then get a rather pliable cardboard and shape it to your umbrella. We want it to look like its streaming off the umbrella, plus we dont want any crayon on the silhouette itself.
Step Five: Begin by putting a crayon in your craft gun/hot glue gun. ensure that your canvas is on some scrap paper. begin by pushing through the crayon and let it dribble down the canvas. To get your desired look depends on how much you push it or where you place it. Repeat the same step with the remaining crayons.
Step Six: Pull the cardboard that's protecting the silhouette, off. Then using your finger get the glitter paint and lightly spread onto random areas of the textured crayon rain to give it a wet look.

YOU HAVE DONE IT!
All finished now you can gift this to someone or hang it up on your wall.
This is totally cheap and really effective.
